Corsica 24 June - 1 July 2006
I was travelling on a family holiday with my wife Natashaand two children Alexander (14) and Nina (11) withLangley Travel. We departure from Kastrup airport,Copenhagen at 5:20 pm and arrived at Bastia, Corsica7:50 pm 24th June. In Bastia the temperature almostraised to 30° C and the sky was clear. We checked out a pre-booked car, Renault Laguna, at the airport paying 235€ (the pre booking price should have been 83 $). Drivingto hotel Orizonte in the small village Prunete, about 30km S Bastia took around 30 min. At the hotel we got awelcome buffet. The children got a separate room on theground floor and we on the second.
From Prunete we tookon daily tours to mostly the eastern part of Corsica. Fromour room at hotel Orizonte we had excellent view to sea. Driving was easy on mostly good roads. The only exceptions were on the western Cap de Corse where thevery narrow and sometimes bad roads winded along verydeep steeps without any fences. In the Asco and Restonica valleys the roads were good but sometimes very narrow.
The weather was warm, sunny and hot forthe whole trip. A couple of days we had some bad experience of small shellfish that causes us badly aching wounds that for my owe sake took more than a year to disappear. The routes we made is shown in red on the map at the beginning in this gallery. The food was eaten on the hotel Orizonte at Prunete and was excellent. Maps used was 73 Carte de Promenade Bastia Corte and 74 Carte de Promenade Ajaccio Bonifacio by Institut Geographique National (IGN). In all 70 species ofbirds were seen and I got three new species to my life list.
